Last Week of Summer

Well today is the first day of school for me which means it's the first day back to daycare for the girls!  It's teacher week this week which means we're scrambling to get our classrooms ready by Friday afternoon for Open House!  It's always a mad dash but it somehow gets put together in time.

We tried to do a lot of stuff our last week of summer and had a lot of fun!

Monday
We were supposed to meet some friends at a nearby mall to go walking & strolling but our friends ended up getting sick so they ended up having to cancel.  We still went because it was too hot to walk outside!  Like feels like 100 degrees by 9am!  So the girls and I went and did a few loops around the mall.  While we were walking we ducked in several shoe stores to look for flower girl shoes but didn't have any luck.

Aren't their dresses adorable?!

After the mall we went home, had lunch, and I did some things around the house while the girls napped!  A pretty uneventful day!

Will climb shelves for books

Tuesday
I was having a little bit of cabin fever and was soooo tired of being in the house so I convinced another friend to meet us at a different mall to go walking!  We went and walked for awhile before having lunch together.  We also checked out some more shoe stores and still didn't find dress shoes in the right size so I ended up ordering them online.  After the mall we went home for naps!

Noelle decided to get herself stuck in the seat of her car. This is when she thought it wasn't funny anymore.

Wednesday
We tried out a trampoline park today!  I had never been to one but have always wanted to try one out.  If you haven't heard of one before it's basically a big warehouse that the floor and walls are made out of trampolines!  They had a dodgeball court and a ninja warrior course too.  The park had morning hours for little kids so we met up with a friend and her daughter there and jumped for at least an hour!  It only took the girls a few minutes to figure out how to walk on the trampolines and while they didn't actually jump, they would bounce themselves (feet didn't leave the floor) and run across the trampolines.  I would also lay them down and bounce them up and down which they loved!

Thursday
Thursday was kind of a crazy day.  We first met one of my mommy friends and her two kids at a splash pad nearby.  It was so cute!  The perfect size for kids.  I'm kinda bummed that I just learned about it the last week of school but I'm already planning on buying a membership next year!  The girls were a bit fussy so they didn't play as much as I thought they would but they liked playing in the water that sprayed out of the ground.

After that I took them to my friend's house to nap because I had to run to a quick appointment.  After they napped, they played with my friend's daughter and we took them to the park for awhile.  Then it was time to meet up with my old first grade team for dinner!  I say old because one of my teammates moved schools and another quit so we have a new team this year!  We ate at a really yummy Italian restaurant and even though we were there quite awhile the girls did sooooo good! They didn't really fuss until the very end.

I'm going to miss this team!

Friday
I didn't plan anything for us to do on Friday because the girls had their 18 month doctor appointment and I wasn't sure what shots they would be getting.  At 18 months Natalie weighs 23.7lbs and is 31.5" tall and Noelle weights 26.6lbs and is 31" tall.  I'm not sure if I buy that Natalie is taller since they look the same to me and it's hard to measure a squirming baby!  They only got one shot and a finger prick to check iron levels and they did great!  We spent the rest of the day at home playing and reading books!

Noelle did learn how to climb up on the end table!  This is what I saw when I turned around.  She was so proud of herself!  And we rearranged the family room.

The girls also got their 18 month pictures done this past weekend.  I've already seen some sneak peeks and I can't wait to see the rest and share them with you!  Have a great week!

It Wouldn't Be Summer Without the County Fair

Summer's not complete without a trip to the county fair!  I grew up going to the Queen Anne's County 4H Fair so that's where I take the girls each year with my mom.  Last year the girls just kind of stared at everything but this year they enjoyed it much more!

Before I share fair pictures, Ben and I got to go to the beach just the two of us the week before.  My parents watched the girls and we belatedly celebrated our 6th anniversary.  Unfortunately I was sick so we spent most of the weekend laying on the couch watching the Olympics.  We never made it out to the beach but we did play some mini-golf (I kicked Ben's butt!), go out to dinner, and walk around the boardwalk.  We like to go to the arcade and each get $10 worth of coins and see who gets the most tickets with their coins.  Ben beat me by a ton!

First, can we talk about how this was a whole year ago?! This is one of my favorite pictures of them...and now they're 18 months old!

Watching them read and share books never gets old!

We went to the fair the day after the Women's Gymnastics Team won gold and Michael Phelps won gold so we had to wear our USA dresses! We stopped at Aunt Sharon's work on the way there to say hi.

Well, next week is our last week of summer :(  It flew by!  We have some play dates scheduled, our 18 month visit, and we will end the week with having our 18 month pictures taken!
